La Palma International Workshop on Reducing Volcanic Risk at Island Settings is organized by the Canary Islands Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN) to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the Tajogaite eruption at Cumbre Vieja volcano (La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain). The aim of this event is to share knowledge that will underpin the next-generation to exchange and understand their experiences and knowledge in order to evaluate and improve prevention/mitigation actions and all required measurements to enhance volcanic risk management at island settings.
Scientific and technical sessions will bring together geoscientists working on active volcanoes, authorities, civil protection specialists, city planners, social scientists, economists, psychologists, educators, health specialists, engineers, mass media and general members of communities living in active volcanoes.
La Palma International Workshop on Reducing Volcanic Risk at Island Settings has the collaboration of the two public universities of the Canary Islands (ULL and ULPGC), Spanish Volcanological Society (SVE), International Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth’s Interior (IAVCEI), several departments of the Government of Spain and the Autonomous Government of the Canary Islands, Cabildo Insular de La Palma and the 14 municipalities of the Island of La Palma
